History of the Farm
Finca Loma Escondida began in 1995 with one manzana (a unit of land measurement) that was initially a vacant lot. Over the years, it has undergone significant processes, including practices for soil maintenance and conservation, such as cover crops, shade management, the application of organic fertilizers, water infiltration, and the planting of fruit trees. Currently, the farm maintains varieties such as Catimor and Yellow Catuai, and it has 4 manzanas in production.
Family History
Loma Escondida is a farm owned by Mr. Carlos Daniel Villeda, a farmer, which began with the inheritance of a 1-manzana plot of land from his father-in-law, José Dimas Arita. At the time, the land was abandoned and in very poor condition. With great effort, Carlos decided to start working on it, providing continuous maintenance, and planted his first farm. Today, with all the improvements made, it is a quality coffee-producing farm, and this has proven to be the best decision, as it is now a vital part of his life and that of his children.
